Bookmarking Demon 4.1 - Was It Worth The Wait?

By Mike Wong

After a long development cycle, Bookmarking Demon 4.1 has finally been released. Edwin Brian, Bookmarking Demon's creator has completely rewritten the program from scratch and created a social bookmarking tool that is far superior to its predecessor. It has a completely revamped user interface and some great new features that make bookmarking your sites easy and safe.

For those of you who haven't used Bookmarking Demon before, it is a Windows only software that automates the process of creating accounts and submitting pages to social bookmarking sites. It supports most of the major bookmarking sites, like Mister-wong.com, Delicious.com, and Spurl.net. Not only that, but it can also save your pages to the smaller, but more numerous Pligg, Scuttle, and Scuttle Plus sites.

What are the benefits of using a social bookmarking tool like Bookmarking Demon? By submitting pages on your sites, you get:

Highly targeted backlinks - Each keyword you submit to a social bookmarking site creates its own page. So multiply the number of keywords, by the number of sites you submit to and that's how many backlinks you'll be getting.

Faster search engine indexing - I bookmarked a several of my new sites with BookmarkingDemon and they were indexed by Google in 2-3 days on average. If you submit your site to Google manually, the process could take weeks!

Higher position in the SERPS - Bookmarking Demon 4.1 currently supports twenty different social bookmarking sites. Most of these sites will give you high Page Rank, do-follow links. For example, Furl.net currently has a PR of 7, which will pass along a lot of link juice back to your site. The more one-way backlinks you have to your site, the higher position your site will rank.

When you first open Bookmarking Demon 4.1, you'll right away notice the brand new user interface. Everything is more friendly looking and more functional than the previous version. There is also now a Beginner mode that hides a lot of the more advanced features in the interface which makes it better suited for new users. More advanced users will want to switch to expert mode to gain access to all the functionality that Bookmarking Demon has to offer.

There is a handy new syntax that is introduced by Bookmarking Demon 4.1 which will help you avoid getting flagged for having duplicate content. Now, in your descriptions you can write something like: "Cooking steak is difficult " When Bookmarking Demon sees this syntax in a site description or title, it will randomly pick one of the words from the choices when bookmarking to a site.

A favorite feature of mine is Bookmarking Demon's support of RSS feeds. In the preferences, you can choose different RSS feeds to add from your favorite sites (like CNN, Google News) and Bookmarking Demon 4 will take random items from these feeds to submit them along side your bookmarked pages. This lets you cloak your own sites, and decreases the chances that you get caught by a social bookmarking site for spamming your own content.

Another really nice feature is the pinging feature. Once Bookmarking Demon has finished submitting your sites, you can have it ping the newly created pages, along with your profile on a particular bookmarking site. This tells the search engines that a page has changed and it should send out its spiders to index this new info. This makes it extremely fast to get your sites indexed in the search engine results.

Bookmarking Demon 4.1 is a great improvement over the previous version and a must have tool for any link building efforts. By using it on a regular basis, your sites will increase their search engine rankings for keywords that you are specifically targeting. Of course, you could do the same thing manually, but isn't your time worth money? Why not let Bookmarking Demon do all the hard work for you.
