What are Dirty Blue Widgets?

By Herbert Castillo

An online academy that teaches people how to make money on the internet is currently running a contest for SEO.

There are two groups of students. There are the beginners and the advanced class.

The students will get to try out their SEO methods in a real world application and learn new ones from their competition. The two classes each have their own term to rank for.

The advanced group will be competing for the phrase Dirty Blue Widgets and the beginners will be running for Clean Red Widgets.

These terms don't actually mean anything. The reason for this is so that all the students are competition against each other giving them all about equal opportunity to win. If the term was a well known term, there could be outside competition.

It runs from 11/10/08 until 2/10/09 and the winner will be the person in the lead at the end of the run. There are a couple guidelines though.

No black hat or illegal methods are permitted. Buying links is also out. Any domain competing must not have any of the words from the target term in them. And the only automated tools allowed will be those that submit to bookmarking sites and directories.

The prize for the first place winner is $1000 for the beginner contest and $1500 for the advanced contest.
