As an online business owner, you may already know that content makes the world go round. You need content for your website or blog, more articles for your weekly ezine or newsletter, and even more articles if you're planning to do article marketing to get free advertising for your website. So, before your fingers curl in terror, let me give you a few ideas that will save you some hassle (and some money).
Why do you need content? There are a few reasons.
First, search engines love content. The more quality pages that you have on your website, the better. Google eats it up, so keep adding more "real estate" to your website by adding pages of great content.
Second, content adds value to your website visitors. They search the internet and come to your website to find information. If you offer great info, they're more likely to tell a friend about your site, link to you from their site, and twitter about it.
Third, it establishes you as an expert. By writing articles and sharing content, people will look to you for information. You're reading this article right now for information, right?
So, where do you get articles for your site? Well, you have several options, each with its pros and cons.
1. Write the it yourself. While this is a noble option, and I do write much of my own content, there are options below that will give you a bit of a break, while growing your business faster than ever. Yes, write your own articles if you can, but also incorporate some of the options below to see the biggest benefits.
2. Find a Writer. Go on the lookout at places like elance.com and Shelancers.com for a skilled ghostwriter that you can get onboard. Once you find that person who can write like the wind, sound just like you, and rely on -- give her a raise and quickly! Seriously, though, it is important to test any new frelancer on a small project before giving him or her a large one. Many of the top gurus rely heavily on their ghostwriters. The President relies on his speech writers. It's not a bad thing to get a little help with your writing needs. Plus, you can always personalize your articles to sound more like you before anyone else ever sees them.
3. Partner up. Go through your list of online buddies and ask a few to become guest columnists for your site. They'll benefit by getting the free advertising from your readers, and you'll benefit by receiving additional UNIQUE content on your site.
4. Check out the Article Directories. Popular article directories like Isnare.com, EzineArticles.com and FreeAffiliateArticles.com offer a variety of informative articles written by respected experts in a variety of fields. You may reprint these articles on your website as long as you include the author bio that is included at the end. See the bottom of this article for an example -- mine.
5. Buy PLR articles. PLR stands for Private Label Rights and it is content that you can edit freely, add your name to it, and publish it on your website or in your ezine without having to link back to anyone. The only thing with PLR is that you have to be careful to find a reputable PLR service that is offering quality content that has been professionally written and edited. If the articles are sold in limited quantities, even better. Beware of fly-by-night PLR service. Try to find one that has been around for awhile and has an owner who stands by it. PLR content is affordable and flexible -- two things that a busy internet marketer need for their business.
Well, that's a quick intro to getting content for your website. I hope it gives you some ideas to help you build a booming online business. My wish for you is to work smarter, not harder -- and watch your online business grow!
