5 Big Reasons People Stay Home To Work

By Bob Matthews

Do you want to know why 30,000-40,000 new people flock online each month to find work-from-home opportunities? If you're like most of them, you probably have this in common: Ever since you attended grade school, you preferred spending a day at home to a day at school. Hello? Spring break, anyone? Or maybe you were a sick day celebrator who enjoyed the privileges of Mom's care and all-day TV-viewing pass. Whatever the reason--you thought you were really getting away with it.

Now, as an adult, your fantasy is to return in some ways to those carefree yet safe days at home. Here are five reasons that people frequently cite for working from home. See if you agree.

* You're in charge! Any time that you want off, you can take it. Take vacation days, weekdays, sick days, rainy days, and any-other-time-you-want days off. Of course, the flip side is that you can work really hard too. Just be careful not to overdo it. Hint: You know that you've gone too far when your family calls the authorities to report your disappearance.

* More time with your family. Who'd have guessed? Now when your kids need lunch, you'll be able to tell them that their sandwiches are in the dehydrator. As an added benefit, Fido or Fifi can sleep in your office. Seriously, time is a fixed quantity--you can't increase or diminish it, but you can spend less of it on things you like least. Conversely, if you love your business, you can spend a lot more time on it and become super rich.

* More money. Do you remember that look your girlfriend gave you when you purchased that $500 Dolce & Gabbana handbag on a whim? If looks could kill, you'd be seven feet under now. But really--that was part of the fun, wasn't it?

* More freedom to choose what you want. When's the last time you spent two fun-filled weeks in a luxury bungalow in Tahiti? Okay, so when's the last time you drove your kiddies to the nearest theme park for the day? When you work from home, you set your own schedule. Maybe you've have a lifelong ambition to run a marathon. Or perhaps you want to add a room onto your house.

* Enjoy your career. When you enjoy what you're doing, you feel satisfied. You have passion. You have purpose. You have energy and determination. You feel as though you can overcome any challenges to reach your financial goals. And that mindset is crucial in the home business field where you don't have a boss making sure that you complete your work each day. You're the boss, the motivator, and the worker all in one. Someone once said that 90 percent of running a home business is in your head. Your bank account will only rise in proportion to your mental and spiritual growth.
