Home Business Isn't For Everyone

By Honey Money

Most people assume that everybody would love the opportunity to work from home but in reality, working from home is not for everyone. Sure working from home has a lot of advantages but never forget about the drawbacks involved.

People want the freedom to make their own hours, get lots of sleep, you can take a day off whenever you want, you do not have to deal with other workers, and being your own boss.

This all sounds great doesn't it? On the downside it is a lot of responsibility and very few are able to just close up shop at 6pm and walk away for the night like they can at a brick and mortar job.

You don't work and you're not going to make any money. Many like the idea of working from home so they can be with their family but remember the old saying, "Be careful what you wish for."

You have to be able to truly balance dual roles of being a productive worker and being a parent. You must be able to set firm boundaries and make sure you a running your business as efficient as possible.

Balance will be both your best friend and your worst enemy. When you work from home it means that you are self employed. Self employment often reflects to some as one who is unemployed so you are an entrepreneur.

Many people see working from home as simply staying at home. You have to be able to face these obstacles and conquer them. There will be unexpected guests who think that because you are home it is time to socialize.

You may find the phone rings on the hook just because you're home so you must be available to chat. You do not want to be rude but sometimes it takes a hammer on the head for people to understand.

Put a note on your door you that states are not available from 8-5 and either get a phone line or send all calls to voice mail and go through them later.

When it comes to opportunities at home, they are endless. You can work from a computer, accounting, billing, telemarketing, assembly rooms and day care, make arrangements of silk flowers, furniture finishing, or even knitting.

What ever you have a niche for there is an opportunity for it, someone wants it!
