Secrets of Internet Business Success Part Two

By John Anghelache

Succeeding on the Internet comes down to understanding the basics. You need to pick a good market. You need to find out what they are willing to buy. And you need to use a proven marketing system.

Once you have those three steps in place it's time to build a big responsive list.

Everything comes down to having a big list of responsive people. That's where the money is. Therefore, building your list should be your number one priority.

My belief is that 90% of your success online depends on your ability to drive traffic to your site... and then... to get visitors to opt in to your email list. Making that happen is simple enough if you follow these steps...

STEP ONE: Adopt the mindset that list building is the focal point of your business. In other words, put all your effort into getting people to opt in to your list. Everything you do should have this single end in mind.

STEP TWO: Create a lead capture page. All the traffic you generate should be driven to this lead capture page. Which is nothing more than a web page where you advertise a free report, audio, video, mini-course or ezine about a topic your market wants to know more about. I prefer promoting my ezine.

STEP THREE: Drive traffic to this lead capture page almost exclusively. Of course, how you drive traffic is also critical. Let's talk about traffic generation methods.

What I rely on to get more website traffic is joint ventures with ezine publishers, ezine ads and targeted articles.

Article marketing is simple. You write up a 500 to 600 word article about a topic your market is interested in. At the end of the article you include a resource box with a link to your lead capture page.

My suggestion is that you write up and submit one to three articles per week. The more the better. Don't do manual submission because it's tedious and you won't reach all the directories. Get some kind of submission service or software to do this for you.

Most ezine take advertising. They are like online newsletters so a lot of them get all their revenue from advertisers. You can place either classified text ads or send out solo emails.

Keep in mind, the name of the game is to drive traffic to your lead capture page. So your ezine ad is nothing more than and ad for your lead capture page and the free offer you have there.

Joint ventures are a little more tricky. The idea is to find people in your market with lists who are not direct competitors. Then ask them to promote your free offer to their list. And, of course, you'll do the same for them.

Obviously, your list has to be as big or bigger than the joint venture partner's to make this "MO" work. As your list grows joint venture opportunities will pop up all over the place.

Here's the key to success: Every single day work on traffic generation and adding people to your list. Nothing is more important than this. So focus on it.

The next article will talk about taking profits out of your list.
