Recruiting The Right Candidates In A Down Economy

By Cade Krueger

Recruiters can create a lot of success in finding job candidates even in a difficult market, but it comes down to following certain guidelines that can prevent your ship from sinking. If you do these steps then you will sail to safely to open shores.

First you need to do everything you can to create impact job descriptions to what you write online and create a wow factor for potential candidates that will be viewing your job offers. It shouldn't be about job descriptions and benefits alone. It needs to be person centered. You should focus on the person instead of the job by stating what it will do for them as far as projects, impact, and potential future with the company.

Figure out who your candidate is and what they like because that will help you sort through a lot of pointless resumes. One of the best things you can do is to not judge your candidates by their resumes, but to look at how they act in your interactions with them. The best candidates usually don't have their resume prepared because they are not used to having to look for jobs.

You have to be a great interviewer and I am sure that you have seen hiring managers not ask the right questions. It becomes so significant to be able to understand your candidate and use questions that will help them understand for themselves that it is worthwhile to work with you and that their future will be bright.

Next you have to know how to close the deal. If you are passionate about your job then they are going to see that and give you a few minutes to describe what makes this job an important opportunity to them.

Next you need to have a good relationship between not only the job candidates, but also become a trust asset to your hiring manager or the corporation you are hiring for. The better job you do of building that relationship then the more trust you get to have more responsibility and more freedom.

Technology can get you half way there with sourcing programs like TalentSeekr from EnticeLabs, but you have to be good on the phone to get the candidates. A lot of that is just pigheaded determination to do whatever you can to find the right people for the right jobs.

If you begin to focus hard on reaching your job candidates and spreading your net as far as possible and then retooling your skills, then you are going to do amazing things in the recruiting industry. You find success that others have only dreamed of.
